Buzzed on a Budget: The Best Wines $20 and Under

We are officially in patio season, my friends. That glorious time of year when you can sit for hours outside sipping cocktails, relishing in the sun and celebrating the end of winter. To kick it off, I'm sharing my favorite wines $20 and under. Let's be clear...I am by no means a wine aficionado. I'm not a sommelier and if I'm being honest I'm not 100% confident when I say that word. But I am an avid consumer. I don't drink the finest of vinos but I also don't like the kinds that taste like straight sugar water and make you feel like you got hit by a semi the next morning. I find hovering around the $15-$25 range is my alcoholic safe space.

Other People's Pinot Noir by Maison Noire Wines - $19.99

This wine first called to me because I liked the label and it reminded me of this song. Then I tasted it and immediately started singing. The brand describes it as "Earthy, spicy, floral, herb-framed flavors of cherry with gingery wood spice tones." I love this wine because it's light and not overly-complicated.

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc by Matua - $9.99

When my friend first introduced me to this wine, I thought the price was too good to be true. Like, there was no way this wasn't going to taste like salty sugar water with a hint of urine. But I am very happy to report that I was very wrong. This sauvignon blanc is refreshing, crisp and citrusy and I especially love it super cold. The brand describes it as, "...bursting with citrus notes with a hint of grapefruit and basil. The palate is fresh and vibrant with concentrated black currant leaf and a hint of nettle and green melon." It's perfect patio-weather wine.

Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon by Chateau Ste Michelle - $20.00

I never really loved any red wines except pinot noir because I always felt like I was drinking syrup. I typically find them a little bit too heavy. But I LOVE this cabernet sauvignon. The brand describes it as, "ripe, jammy 'new world' style of cabernet sauvignon...with dark fruit aromas and flavors." The label is classic and makes me feel regal and sophisticated. Even if I'm drinking it out of a plastic cup.

Pinot Grigio by Da Vinci - $12.99

Pinot grigio is my personal nectar of the gods. It's my liquid love, my delicate princess. Just call me Ramona Singer. I recently discovered this pinot grigio by DaVinci Wine and it's definitely become a staple. The brand describes it as, "...a brilliant light straw color and a full, ripe palate. It is an extremely well balanced wine with a bouquet of floral aromas coupled with ripe flavors of fresh apple, citrus and tropical fruit flavors. This crisp, clean Pinot Grigio finishes with notes of minerals and a vibrant acidity." What all of that means exactly? Beats me. All I know is I could drink it by the gallon.
